"A place where beauty abounds, where innocence and wisdom are mixed like good cornmeal. A place where a window to the past still exists. L'il Fannie was born from a long line of mountain people. She shares the shyness and fierce pride of her forefathers. In a few isolated hills and hollows of east Tennessee, the window is still open." Low Inventory on all issues

"Milt, an old Kentucky mountain man lives in a cabin belt-buckled on a steep side road of Appalachia. Milt and his sons hunt for food and collect watches, clocks and guns. They are friendly and welcoming and on each gun totin' family member you'd find numerous watches. Milt has a fascination with unique, or as he'd say, "odd ball chickens."

I love painting old people, but I really wanted to portray young people too. It is so difficult to be given permission by the parents to paint children in Appalachia that I had almost given up hope. For so many years I attempted to paint them, but the protective barriers are very strong and very high.
In Hazel Patch Hollow, near a Baptist Church, a ten year old girl named Hazel was in the field with her grandfather, some friends and neighbors. This is the one, I thought when I saw her. I had her in my head
for years and then, there she was. Her hair was ragged and matted and she was looking at me with such a hopeful face, that look that can tell you a million things. I loved how she was that day, with coal dust smeared on her cheeks, her worn clothes, dirty from play. There was, as usual, a lot of mist curling
in the air that day. Her grandfather was hauling coal on a sled pulled by a mule. Hazel had been helping
her grandpa and playing with the other children in the field and she inspired me, this little girl, because she had so much pride in her face and that childlike need to feel special.

"John is a bachelor, lives on his own unless he takes to helpin' a friend in need. He is pretty handy, he can fix anything, the evidence is all over his yard. He has waited for Kathy to walk away to tell Paul "this ol' woman I got me is reliable, she helps keep me warm at night, an' hits the only ol' woman that'll git on my back again!!"

"Since I was about 12 years old, I heard tell of a ‘Mountain Man' true to the bone. Along side him at every step was his wife 'Lottie'. She brought up nine children, clothed them and kept them warm with her quilts made of ol' clothes. Some of us feel she was an angel on earth."
Walking in Tobermory on a sunny fall day my eye was drawn to the most captivating drawings I have ever seen. As I entered the shop, I felt a rush of emotions as I gazed at each drawing. The expressions on each face warmed my heart. There was on drawing in particular that actually brought tears to my eyes.
Thank you for that moment.
Cindy
I have appalachia 75/450 sold to me and framed by your gallery.I am thinking of selling. Would your gallery be interested? Kathy examed the print and said it was one of the best.
Hey Ron, How are you doing? Hope all is well. I am not taking on any more art for sale. I am advising people to go on ebay or a more international website to sell and not to ask top dollar. Any price over $1000, it usually helps to have a layaway, it makes it easer to come up with the money on time. Good Luck. Paul has shown in a couple museums and will be highligted in “Cowboys & Indians” and Western Art Collector and American Art Collector in Jan, Feb. and March 2013….
Have a Merry Christmas. Kati-Jane (Kathy) Murray
Ron,
We have our list of sellers and are full of secondary listings for now. THanks, try ebay, make sure to validate by listing our website. I send clients to ebay all the time
love your art.
I have briar patch trio 213/680 professionally framed in my living room. They enlighten my heart!
Thinking of selling “Secrets”. 136/325 Any suggestions?
I am interested in a print of an elderly woman holding a shotgun. This goes back a few years. Is it available? I will be Gatlinburg start Friday for a week and could come to the gallery. I am looking for print and frame to be around 21″ x 27.5″ with a green mat. My goal is to match my coal miner with gun print.
I have Baking Flour and 1884-1984. 125/275. Framed exactly as you had on display. Frame shop consulted with Paul purchased in Goderich ontario maybe as much as 20 years ago. Love it but am now old and my family in need. Please give the value as I regretfully have to raise cash. Pls quote in cdn dollars. Laurie
http://paulmurray.com/orderinquire/insurance-guide/ this is the link for values of all the artwork. Times may have made these drop some. Good luck, if you want any of the images digital for ebay listings I can help you. We have many clients that keep an eye out for Paul’s work on ebay. Hopefully they were kept out of the sun and framed in archival materials.

I purchased two (2) pencil art pieces back in 2010 when I worked in Gatlinburg, TN and visited his Gallery. One is titled “John Proffit” and the other one is not titled (an old lady thinking).
I would like to frame them but, would like to know if Mr. Murray can autograph them for me.
Armando, Paul is always willing to sign his art. Call us in Tenn. before Nov 1 and we will arrange this for you. KatiJane 865-436-8445
Good Afternoon. We Picked up a picture that we think is yours but we wanted to make sure before we list it. Would you be willing to take a look at it. We would be able to send you an email with the picture attached. The Title is “Watercolor Study for Lnice Dipper” -Paul Murray- the first part of the name could be way off but that is what it looks like to me.
Your Skills are amazing and very moving.
Thank you for any assistance you can offer.
